Use this before buying a soft-sided carrier. Weight limits alone do not tell you whether your dog will fit comfortably.
What to measure
- Body length: measure from the front of the chest to the base of the tail while your dog is standing naturally.
- Standing height: measure from the floor to the top of the head or ears, depending on how your dog naturally stands.
- Weight: use a recent weight and compare it with the manufacturer’s stated limit.
- Shoulder/body width: consider whether your dog can turn and settle inside the carrier rather than only fitting lengthwise.

Before ordering
- Use the selected size’s actual dimensions, not the product family name.
- Check whether dimensions are interior or exterior.
- Confirm current airline or transportation rules directly with the provider if you plan to fly.
- Do not assume “airline approved” means accepted by every airline or aircraft.
